Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra getting April 2025 update with outdated security patch

Samsung is bringing a new update to its latest Wear OS smartwatches, with the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra now getting an April 2025 update.

Rolling out now in select regions, the April 2025 update for Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra looks to be fairly minor. The changelog, below, only details generic “stability” improvements alongside the newer security patch, which is the March 2025 security patch, not the April patch that’s heading to Galaxy smartphones and tablets right now.

Stability and reliability

  • The stability has been improved.

Security

  • The device is protected with improved security.

While the security patch is still technically a month out of date, it’s still a welcome jump from the previous November 2024 patch that Samsung rolled out in January of this year.

Tarun Vats notes that the update is very large, weighing in at 945MB despite the minimal changelog. As such, it’s likely that Samsung is trying to address quite a few small issues behind the scenes, but it’s hard to say for certain.

As mentioned, these updates are only available in select regions at the moment, but they’re likely to expand in the coming weeks.
