Google Keep could make searching through your longest notes much easier

Google Keep could be getting a big upgrade to how the app handles search, allowing you to actually find specific details within a single note rather than having to sort through every document you’ve ever created.

The folks at Android Authority spotted a new feature in Google Keep version 5.25.282.00.90 called “Find in note.” After manually enabling the in-progress tool, Keep gains a handy new option: the ability to search within a specific note, rather than having to use universal search from the homepage. That should make searching through longer documents a whole lot easier, since you can locate specific details or phrases without having to sort through your entire library of lists, recipes, and abandoned to-do’s.

Unfortunately, Android Authority was only able to get the “Find in note” option to appear within the app — the tool itself isn’t actually functional just yet, and trying to use it just resulted in a crash.

It’s a fairly obvious addition for an app like Keep, which is why it’s particularly surprising it’s taken over a decade to be added to the list. Until Google actually rolls out this change, for now, the best way to find specific text within any Keep note is to access it from Chrome — either on desktop or mobile — in order to use those built-in find on page options. It’s a clunky workaround, but again, considering how long we’ve been waiting for something like this, it’s one you’ve probably already done without thinking too hard about it.
