Fitbit app is back following outage that caused syncing issues [U]

If you’ve woken up to check your Fitbit app this morning only to find data missing and your device unable to sync, you’re not alone as an outage is causing problems.

Update: Google, speaking to 9to5Google, has confirmed that this outage has been fully resolved. Services appear to have been back to normal around 11:30am ET/8:30am PT.

Over the past several hours, Fitbit owners have noticed that their app is not syncing data properly. The issue appears to have first popped up late last night, but only went noticed on a broader scale over the past few hours of the morning. DownDetector shows the spike starting around 7am ET and growing rapidly from there but, as mentioned, it seems that the outage started well before that.

Users report that their app is unable to sync with their watch/tracker and, as a result, cannot show sleep data and other information.

This appears to be a full outage of Fitbit services rather than something specific to syncing, as users report that signing out of the app (or uninstalling it) leaves them unable to reconnect or log in at all. We are seeing this issue across multiple devices and Fitbit accounts.

Google, as far as we’ve seen, has not yet acknowledged the outage beyond offering generic troubleshooting steps on Twitter/X. As such, it’s hard to estimate when services will be fully restored.

We’ll update this post with more information as it becomes available.
